Goodbye, Ki-Ha 58 series diesel train

Ki-Ha 58 series diesel train
Ever since I can remember, this diesel train continued running in the Sannin district.

Unfortunately this train was abolished on November 20.
I regret that I did not get on this train last.

Sky Walk

When I go on a business trip to Tokyo, I always use airplanes.
I like watching the scenery outside the window of the airplane.

Big earthquake

On October 6, 2000, a big earthquake of magnitude 7.3 occurred in West Tottori prefecture.
A lot of houses were destroyed by the earthquake.
The earthquake caused many landslides and cracks in the ground.
Railways and roads were cut off by the earthquake.
10 years later, we forgot the terror of the earthquake

Limited express "Hamakaze"

Limited express "Hamkaze"
Limited express "Hamakaze" is the train between Tottori and Osaka.
This vehicle is diesel and called "Ki-Ha 181 series".
But they decided that this old vehicle is scrapped ,because the new vehicle introduced in November.
I very much regret this scrap, because I got on this vehicle very well in my childhood.

Beautiful sunset

The sunset over the Sea of Japan
We can see the beautiful sunset over the Sea of Japan in Tottori sanddune.
The sunddune is very hot during the day, but becomes cool in the evening.
We are looking at the sunset on the sandhill, forget our busy life.
It becomes dark, and fire on a boat to lure fish (Isaribi) shines on the sea.

20th century pear

Tottori prefecture ranks first in the production of 20th Century pear in Japan.

The 20th Century pears are harvested from the end of August to the middle of September.
The sweet and fresh 20th Century pear is my special favorite

Ticks extermination

The tatami mats were infested with many ticks, because I closed the all the windows of my house when I went out.
If I sat down on the tatami mat, I was be bitten my hand and leg by ticks.
I could not stand the itching.
I went to the drugstore to buy an insecticide immediately.
When I pricked the tatami mat with the needle of the hose and push the button, insecticides were injected in the tatami mat.
I got possible to stretch out for a nap on the tatami mat without worrying.

The lingering summer heat

Intense heat continues in Tottori.
Tottori saw the best temperature of 35.9 C today.
By a sultry night, I am lack of sleep every night.
I cannot bear this heat if I do not operate an air conditioner all day.

My summer holiday

I took the "Bon" summer holiday from August 12 to 16.
I went to my hometown Yonago in Tottori Prefecture, and visited my ancestral grave with my family.
Then, I ate with the classmate of the senior high school at a restaurant of fish dishes.

O-bon

In Japan, it is "O-bon" in the middle of August.

"O-bon" is an event to hold a service for ancestors in each houses once a year.
Because relatives return from the whole country to the hometown, the railroad, the road and the airway are crowded very much in this time.
With the relatives who gathered, we visit to our ancestral grave.

Crystal-clear waters and lots of fish

I went to the sea because it was too hot every day.
It takes about 30 minutes from Tottori-city to the Uradome shore.
In the shore that faced the Sea of Japan, seawater is very transparent.
We can find a lot of fish when we go into the sea.

It is hot!

It is summer now.
Intense heat continues every day.
In Tottori, the best temperature was 38.4 degrees Celsius on August 6.
For this heat, several people die of heat stroke.
Till when will this heat continue?
